Imagine your Students Building Mobile Apps. It's Possible (and Fun!)
As part of IMDA’s LEARN Roadmaps, we recently hosted a Google AppSheet Bootcamp for students from various Infocomm Media Clubs (IMCs) at the Google (Singapore) office from May 27th to 29th, 2024. This immersive three-day experience provided an exciting journey into the world of app development, equipping students with the ability to create functional mobile apps without writing a single line of code (through a no-code/low-code approach).
Throughout the bootcamp, participants not only learned the core principles of app design (UI/UX) and data integration for seamless functionality, but also incorporated Design Thinking concepts. This fostered valuable skills in problem-solving and user-centric design.
The Google AppSheet Bootcamp wasn’t just about creating apps; it was about empowering students to become “Citizen Developers.” This early exposure gives students a head start in understanding how technology works, fostering an interest in coding and app development, and preparing them for the future workforce.

The success of the May 2024 Bootcamp is a testament to the power of equipping students with future-proof tech skills.
