The “National Youth Tech Championship 2023” project, led by GSA Education, was a landmark event in collaboration with IMDA and Google Asia Pacific. Spanning from July 8 to August 18, 2023, it aimed to foster technological skills among students.

Episode 1 of the National Youth Tech Championship

The GSA team worked closely with Google Engineers to design training content and managed operational aspects of the competition. The event, comprising multiple rounds culminating in a final showdown, marked a significant step in promoting tech literacy among youth, leading to the in-principle confirmation of a second season.

Round 1: Intro to AI and Machine Learning

Learn how to programme an AI Model: Using Google Collab, teams will learn and understand the basics of AI and Machine Learning

Round 2: AI for Devices

Learn how to use AI to control a device: Teams will take their drones on a first flight before proceeding into fundamental movements

Round 3: AI Drone Derby: Pre-race

Learn how to use AI to recognise objects and perform a task: Teams will need to implement what they have learned to navigate a drone through a challenging course

Round 4: AI Drone Derby: Pre-race (Semis & Finals)

20 finalists team undertake a challenge where only the top 10 will progress to the finals. Top 10 teams will battle it out in the AI Drone Derby. Only the Top 4 teams will emerge as winners of the NYTC.
